CPT 388 B546 - The Java Programming Language (3 cr.)
P: CPT 262. A study of advanced programming topics using the Java programming language.

Meets Mon in SL211, Wed in SL214.

Materials

Exploring Java 2nd Ed., O'Reilly 1997
Microsoft J++ which is available for use in CPT labs and from the Bookstore for $25 as part of Microsoft Visual Studio 97.
A CNC login will be needed to access J++ on the lab computers.

Grades

200 points - Two Exams (100 points each)
200 points - Final Exam (comprehensive, open book, in lecture room)
100 points - Quizzes (four)
80 points - Programming assignments (four) Revised from five!

Letter grades will be based on the following scale:
92 - 100 = A
84 - 91 = B
73 - 83 = C
63 - 72 = D
< 63 = F

Policy

Please watch the course page throughout the semester for supplemental readings and changes to the schedule.

Students are responsible for all material covered in class, even when they are absent. Arrangements must be made with the instructor before the exam is given to the class if a make-up is desired.

Cheating and plagiarism will not be tolerated and will result in a failing grade for the course.

Any student wishing to appeal a score should return his or her paper with a written statement explaining the appeal. Appeals must be submitted no later than ONE week after the student received the original score.

All material submitted to the instructor becomes property of the instructor.
